At this time of the year it is common for storms to occur as a result of the so-called "Gota Fría" (cold drop). This situation is caused by the collision of a cold air mass at a high altitude with warm air at the surface, which can trigger very intense storms and cause serious damage.

When serious situations such as floods happen, it is easy major damage to occur, often affecting many properties simultaneously.
It may be thought that state compensation can solve these problems. The reality is that this aid does not always occur, and when it does, it only offset for a small part of the damage (clean-up costs, important damages to be resolved at first moment, etc.).
But there is an effective way to solve this problem, by taking out an insurance for your property or vehicle in Spain with an insurance company registered with the Spanish Directorate General For Insurance, such as AXA Seguros.
It is convenient to know that all properties damage insurances (homes, commercial premises, industrial businesses, vehicles...) have a mandatory surcharge on the insurance premium that enables the Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS) to compensate these damages.
This premium collection system, in which all policies have the coverage included, allows that the amount of this concept is lower than in other countries as all insured parties participate in the payment of the same.
To make a claim to the Consortium, the insured person can do it directly, or if your insurance agency offers this service, they can make the claim for you.
